Where Good Things Are Happening!
Who We Are:
Northbrook Farmers Market is operated by the Northbrook Farmers Market Association, an all-volunteer tax-exempt, nonprofit organization incorporated in the State of Illinois. We work hard to bring you the best market possible!
To support local farmers, producers and artisans by providing an economic outlet, and to serve the Northbrook community by making available for purchase fresh, high-quality produce and other locally made goods for the benefit of all.
To educate residents on the benefits of buying local, eating healthy, and living green, as well as supporting local farming families and entrepreneurs.
Important Notice to Link card holders: We accept SNAP benefits at the market and double the value up to $25. Learn more on our What's New page.
Northbrook Farmers Market invites youngsters ages 4 to 12 to join the new Explorer's Club at the Market.
The Club is a farmers market-based children's program that seeks to teach kids about fruits and vegetables, local food systems and healthy food preparation through fun activities.
Participants engage in the full farmers market experience, trying new foods, having conversations with farmers, and buying local produce.
Explorers Club at the Market features four monthly activity days from July through October. Children are invited to participate in as many of the scheduled days as they like.
Through the Club, participants are rewarded for sampling a featured fruit or vegetable, with the aim of introducing them to a food they may not have previously experienced. Also, they receive vouchers to spend on the healthy foods of their choice at the market.
Children who participate and complete the day's activity will receive $3 in market currency (vouchers) to spend on fresh produce each time they participate in a scheduled activity.
Explorers Club provides a fun opportunity for children to participate in the local food system through conversations directly with farmers, educational games and demonstrations, and exposure to new fruits and vegetables.
Program hours are 9 am to noon, Wednesdays, July 6 (Farmers Market Scavenger Hunt); Aug. 3 (Monarch Education/Milkweed seed planting); Sept. 14 (Mystery Vegetable Game); and Oct. 12 (Cooking).
Stop by the Welcome Booth to obtain your Explorers Club Passport.
